About Lee County Criminal History

Lee County criminal records are divided among the Sheriff's Office in Montrose, the North and South Lee court locations, the Iowa Department of Public Safety Division of Criminal Investigation, the Iowa Department of Corrections, and the Iowa Sex Offender Registry. We built this private reference resource to make that unusual two-county-seat system easier to navigate and to connect readers with the official portal, counter, address, or phone line that holds each kind of record.

Why We Built This Site

Iowa provides several public access routes, but each route answers a different question. The Lee County Sheriff's Office maintains local reports and custody records. Iowa District Court keeps filed charges, docket activity, and outcomes at North Lee and South Lee. DCI maintains the fingerprint-supported statewide repository. The Iowa Department of Corrections and Iowa Sex Offender Registry cover separate custody, supervision, and registration systems. We organize the verified request steps, fees, office contacts, and search links so readers can start with the correct custodian.

What You Will Find Here

  • Local record instructions: how Lee County court, arrest, booking, and registry channels differ
  • Agency contacts: where to reach the Sheriff, both district court clerks, and Iowa record systems
  • Official check details: how Iowa DCI name-based checks and fingerprint-supported records work
  • Record relief basics: where Iowa expungement petitions begin and why court and DCI records may differ

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately run reference site. It is not connected with a Lee County office, an Iowa court, law enforcement, or a state agency. Those limits matter:

  • We cannot run an official background check or pull a criminal record for anyone
  • We cannot provide legal advice about a charge, warrant, case, or expungement
  • We cannot issue a certified case document, rap sheet, or other official copy
  • We cannot submit a Chapter 22 request, court filing, or expungement petition for a reader
  • We cannot promise that an agency has not changed an address, fee, hour, or procedure

Only the Lee County Sheriff, the correct court clerk, DCI, or another originating agency can provide and certify its official record.

Search Partners

Third-party providers power search boxes found on some pages. They control their own services, pricing, data, and results. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may produce a referral fee, which supports free public access to this resource. We do not direct the provider's matches or fees, and its own terms govern use of the service.
