Terms of Use

These terms govern use of Lee County Criminal History. Opening a page, reading its content, or submitting a search means that you accept every condition below. If you do not agree, stop using the site.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated site is not affiliated with a Lee County, Iowa, or federal government body. Neither the site nor its advertising partners offers a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other Fair Credit Reporting Act use. This is a public records reference, not a private investigation firm or consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no government affiliation. We neither hold official criminal records nor retrieve records, perform official checks, or submit filings for users.

Our content directs readers to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, Iowa District Court, Iowa DCI, and the Iowa Sex Offender Registry. Some pages also connect to third-party research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the site, you agree not to:

  • Interfere with access or degrade the site's performance
  • Use bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools
  • Attempt unauthorized access to any system or account
  • Use site content for hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decisions
  • Stalk, threaten, or harass anyone with information found here
  • Violate a federal, state, or local law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

You may not use information from this site or a linked service to stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or discriminate against anyone. Iowa Code chapter 692A governs the Iowa Sex Offender Registry, including public availability under section 692A.121. Registry information serves lawful public safety awareness and does not permit vigilantism or discriminatory misuse.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not create consumer reports, credit reports, or official background checks. Our advertising partners do not turn this resource into a screening service. Information from this site or a linked tool may not be used to:

  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated purpose
  • Set eligibility for a license, permit, or government program
  • Assess credit or determine insurance terms
  • Evaluate a housing or rental application
  • Make an employment decision

For a legally permitted official purpose, use the appropriate Iowa DCI process or a screening provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

Site content is general information, not legal advice. Only a licensed Iowa attorney can advise how a warrant, charge, conviction, or expungement law applies to specific facts.

6. No Warranties

All content is provided "as is." We make no promise that:

  • A partner tool will return complete or correct results
  • Pages contain no defect, error, or security weakness
  • Access will always be uninterrupted
  • Every detail will remain accurate, current, and complete

Criminal records change as charges are filed, dismissed, restricted, or expunged. Gaps and delays are unavoidable. Treat only a document or statement from the originating court or agency as official.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links can lead to government offices, court systems, state agencies, legal resources, and outside search providers. We do not control their availability, content, privacy practices, or prices. Their own terms apply after you leave this site.

8. Intellectual Property

Lee County Criminal History or its content partners owns the site's text, graphics, logos, and code. Written permission is required to copy, distribute, alter, or create derivative material.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, we are not responsible for damages resulting from use of the site, its information, or a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims, demands, or proceedings arising from your use of the site or violation of these terms, including related legal costs.

11. Governing Law

Iowa law governs these terms. This includes the state's relevant framework, such as the Iowa Open Records Law in Iowa Code chapter 22 and criminal-history dissemination rules in chapter 692. Any dispute concerning site use must be filed in an Iowa court.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms. A new version takes effect when it is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or ended at any time, for any reason, without prior notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions continue in force. The affected language will be adjusted only as far as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions
